Iconic Cornrows for Sammy B S/S’24 Collection
This past New York Fashion Week, KISS Colors & Care partnered with designer Sammy B for the Spring/Summer 2024 collection. As the exclusive hair sponsor for Sammy B, KISS Colors & Care and hairstylist Susy Oludele (@HairbySusy) created a trendy, soft hair look. Additionally, Oludele created a bespoke headpiece for the finale!
“For the finale look, I was inspired by the Yoruba people of Western Nigeria and the intricate braided hairstyles they often wore to ceremonies. I wanted to bring back that sense of royalty with this regal braided crown,” said KISS Colors & Care hairstylist Susy Oludele.
The Nigerian-American stylist, known on Instagram as “African Creature”, is the creative mastermind behind Beyoncé’s iconic cornrows in her 2016 film Lemonade. Oludele has been doing hair since age nine. She practised on friends and family before getting the opportunity to work with Solange at age 19. Soon, Zoë Kravitz, Lala Anthony, and the Queen Bey herself came knocking. Now she’s your fave star’s fave, and runs a thriving salon in the heart of Brooklyn, New York.
