MANCHESTER, Jamaica — A woman succumbed to injuries she sustained and a man has been hospitalised following a motorcycle crash on Old Greenvale Road in Mandeville on Wednesday night.

Relatives identified the deceased as Jody Kay Young, otherwise called “Angel”, a resident of Bellefield in Manchester.

Preliminary reports are that the crash happened about 7:45 pm. Young is said to be the pillion on the motorcycle and the man as the driver. He is reportedly employed as a courier.

Scores of motorcyclists, who turned up at the scene and the Mandeville Regional Hospital, told Observer Online that the crash resulted from a hit-and-run.

“A car drove out on the bike from a street off Old Greenvale Road and hit the bike. The rider lost control and crashed into a light post,” said one of the motorcyclists.

The woman was reportedly flung from the motorcycle.

The injured people were taken to hospital where Young was pronounced dead and the man admitted in stable condition.
