Choosing Wedding Day Transportation
Leave the driving to the experts, and start the celebration before you even walk down the aisle.

Choosing Wedding Day Transportation

“You’re heading to the chapel and ready to say “I do.” But how will your mom make it there and your wedding party too? Figuring out your wedding transportation is crucial, not only for getting you to the venue but also for ensuring all your guests arrive on time.

Your wedding day is a culmination of dreams filled with lots of details, and not to be left undone is the consideration of the transportation for the bridal party. This often-overlooked aspect is an important element of your special day.

Your wedding party and VIPs take the top priority when it comes to wedding transportation. I suggest keeping all of the VIPs together, so they’re not scattered all over the place.

In my opinion, pre-ceremony transportation is a must. It’s important to tally up your bridal party and family members so you can determine the vehicles you’ll need to reserve. For most weddings, this includes the couple, the wedding party, parents, non-wedding party siblings, and grandparents. Some couples also extend transportation services to out-of-town guests.

To make your exit a lasting memory, a vintage car is sure to impress your guests!

Let’s explore various transportation options and tips for selecting the ideal mode of getting to your wedding. To assist you in sorting out the travel logistics, I’ve outlined a few things to consider:

1. Group size

Assess the size of your bridal party before settling on a mode of transportation. A luxury car might be perfect for an intimate gathering, while a larger group might require a spacious party bus.

2. Timing and logistics

Ensure that the transportation schedule aligns with your wedding itinerary. Factor in travel time between locations and any potential traffic delays. Allow for extra time for unexpected delays to avoid any rush or stress. Additionally, consider other distances, such as the miles between your wedding venue(s) and the hotel where you’ve reserved room blocks.

3. Comfort and amenities

The comfort of your bridal party should be a top priority. Ensure the chosen vehicle offers ample space, comfortable seating, and climate control. If possible, provide amenities like refreshments, music, or even Champagne for an extra touch of luxury.

4. Location

If you anticipate a large number of out-of-town guests (who may not have their own vehicles) or if your venue is hard to locate or access, booking transportation for guests should be on your radar. While you’re certainly not obliged to book transportation for wedding guests, it will be helpful for family and friends from out of town who may be travelling long distances, as well as those without a car to access your event more easily.

5. Wedding venue parking

Some guests will be transporting themselves around, so keep parking in mind. Talk to the reception site manager and find out your options and who handles the arrangements. Opt for parking attendants who direct traffic, hold signs and guide drivers to empty spaces to make the process swift, simple and safe.

6. Photography opportunities

Your wedding day is a treasure trove of memories, and the transportation for the bridal party can serve as a stunning backdrop for photographs. Consider how the chosen vehicle will contribute to your wedding album and ensure it aligns with your vision.

7. Bridal party unity

The journey from the pre-wedding preparations to the ceremony can be a memorable bonding time for the bridal party. Choosing a mode of transportation that allows everyone to be together can enhance the sense of camaraderie and excitement.

8. Drivers without GPS

Drivers should have all this information in advance, including detailed directions to the ceremony and reception sites. It’s also a good idea to give passengers a copy of the directions with an emergency contact number in case the driver gets lost. A hard copy is best, just in case of bad cell service or no GPS.

How much does wedding transportation cost?

Once you’ve established your needs, start inquiring about rates and availability in your area. Most rental companies charge by the hour and require a minimum time of typically two, three hours. Calculate the duration from the pick-up time to the end of the reception to determine if it’s worth it for your wheels to wait.

Selecting the perfect transportation for the bridal party and guests is an essential element of planning a memorable wedding day. By considering factors such as theme, group size, comfort, and personal touches, you can create a seamless experience for both you and your bridal party. With the right transportation, your wedding day will begin and end with an elegant, unforgettable journey.
