Grand Palladium double triumph
Grand Palladium Hotels and Resorts is still basking in its contribution to the development of sport and Jamaica’s tourism industry through its involvement in the 56th Jamaica Open Golf Tournament held last weekend.
The collaboration was made even more special for the resort as it won the tournament’s major team awards.
The Grand Palladium team, comprising Pro Orville Christie, Jamie Cox, Dwight Spence, and Devon Lindsay, won both first place and the corporate team prizes.
The annual event, staged by Jamaica Golf Association (JGA) in partnership with Palladium Hotel Group at the world-famous Tryall Golf Course in Hanover, just outside the tourist resort city of Montego Bay, “is a great opportunity for golf enthusiasts and industry professionals to visit Jamaica and celebrate the best in golf”, Palladium emphasised in a news release.
“We have tremendous infrastructure in our country for golf, including beautiful weather all year round and warm and friendly people. There is great potential for Jamaica’s increased participation in the golf tourism segment for North America,” the release quoted Gerardo De Groot, general manager Grand Palladium Jamaica and Lady Hamilton Resort and Spa.
Hotel Sales Manager Merricka Dyer Cunningham agreed, adding that the hotel group was pleased to be a sponsor of the tournament as the JGA’s “values of respect, responsibility, etiquette, sensitivity, and tradition are key values that help to nurture junior golfers, ensuring longevity to the sport”.
This, Dyer Cunningham, said “connects stakeholders in the industry with mutual benefits to all parties involved”.
In addition to the tournament, guests enjoyed the resort’s facilities, as well as the gastronomical experience provided by the hotel’s chef.
