Rusea’s High through to semi-finals of U-14 tourney

GREEN ISLAND, Hanover — Rusea’s High are through to the semi-finals of the ISSA Burger King Under-14 football competition, after beating Green Island High 3-1 at Green Island on Thursday for their second win in Group 1 of the quarter-finals.

Rusea’s High, which leads the group with maximum six points — three more than defending champions St Elizabeth Technical — is the only school in the Rural Area junior competition to secure a place in the next round so far.

The other three semi-finalists in the Under-14, and all four in the Under-16, will be decided on Monday when the quarter-finals end.

St Elizabeth Technical rebounded from their loss to Rusea’s High to beat Denbigh High 4-2, also in Group 1.

Clarendon College lead Group 2 with four points after drawing 1-1 against Manning’s School while Holmwood Technical and Glenmuir High drew 0-0.

Manning’s School lead Group 2 of the Under-16 competition with six points after edging Maldon High 1-0 in their game on Friday while Kemps Hill and Manchester High are on three points each from two games played.

Manchester High edged Kemps Hill 2-1 in their game played Thursday.

Central High sit atop Group 1 in the Under-16 competition with four points, after being held 2-2 by BB Coke High as Holmwood Technical edged Petersfield High 1-0, with both teams on three points.
