Manchester basic school receives well-needed face-lift from JCSA
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Jamaica Civil Service Association (JCSA) is continuing its push for the expansion of the Sydney L Blake basic school in Manchester.
The school located in Mile Gully (northern western Manchester) was adopted by the JCSA five years ago and has received well-needed resources including water tanks, cubicles for students, the re-tiling of a classroom and the installation of windows in a new building where a classroom is under construction.
Last Thursday, the association unveiled its latest face-lift project which included the painting of classrooms and corridors as well as the installation of well-needed face basins in bathrooms, a door and cupboards. An outdoor sink was also installed along a corridor.
Addressing the project presentation at the school, JCSA president Techa Clarke Griffiths commended her predecessor O’Neil Grant and the association’s Manchester Chapter for their vision in adopting the school.
“We have seen the elevation and the improvement of the school,” she said.
Students were presented snacks, books, pencils, and plush toys during the ceremony.
