‘Rat dem big like cow’ – Transport operators, vendors decry poor conditions at Ocho Rios bus park
ST ANN, Jamaica -Transport operators and vendors protested at the Ocho Rios bus park in St Ann on Wednesday morning, calling for the resolution of several issues affecting the facility.
Residents demanded the long-standing problems within the park, particularly the unsanitary bathroom facilities flooded with sewage water, be promptly addressed.
The placard-bearing protesters, including vendors, emphasised that these issues have persisted for an extended period.
Michael, one of the demonstrators, expressed concern about sewage water flowing through his colleague’s shop.
“See it deh. A sewage water that a run through the man shop. This a go on for too long now, everyday is another problem,” he told Observer Online.
Evelyn Parkinson, another vendor, described the area where they sell as unsuitable for business due to rat infestation.

The disgruntled protesters displayed placards with messages such as “Fix up the bathroom” and “Fix up the bus park,” urging immediate intervention by the authorities.
