Cavalier knocked out of Concacaf Champions League
KINGSTON, Jamaica— Cavalier SC’s first foray into the Concacaf Champions League came to an early end after they were beaten 4-0 in their first round second leg game away to FC Cincinnati at a frigid TQL stadium in Cincinnati, Ohio on Wednesday for a 6-0 aggregate.
FC Cincinnati had won the first leg 2-0 a week ago at the National Stadium in Kingston and will advance to the Round of 16 where they will have a date with five-time Concacaf champions Monterrey of Mexico.
Cavalier SC who had lost in the final of the Concacaf Caribbean Cup to Robinhood of Suriname, had to play in the first round to qualify for the next round.
Reggae Boy Alvas Powell gave FC Cincinnati the lead in the 19th minute before Aaron Boupendza added a second in the 34th minute as the home team led 2-0 at half time.
Two goals late in the game from Isiah Foster in the 71st and Gerardo Valenzuela in the 78th minute, further confirmed FC Cincinnati’s win.
