DECLARING 2024 the Year of Engineering, members of Jamaica Institution of Engineers (JIE) stepped away from their plans and projects to witness a blueprint of a different kind during a launch ceremony held at the Audi Showroom in New Kingston on Thursday, February 22, 2024.
The occasion saw JIE President Oneil Josephs outlining a pathway to re-engaging the business sector in Jamaica, making the engineering profession more relevant through an awareness campaign as well as research and development. Not to be outdone, keynote speaker and managing director of Jamaica Social Investment Fund Omar Sweeney — himself an engineer — endorsed the president’s message and made way for council member Shauna-Kaye East to share how the JIE will execute its plan of action. Business Observer presents its own surveillance of the event.
