No match for Yellowstone in SVREL Anniversary Trophy
YELLOWSTONE, in another outstanding sprinting show, left competitors in his wake to win the $1.75-million Supreme Ventures Racing and Entertainment Limited (SVREL) Seventh Anniversary Trophy main race on Saturday.
Trained by Alford Brown, the five-year-old chestnut gelding Yellowstone led from the first jump in a dominating 6¼-length win margin during the Graded Stakes/Open Allowance contest for three-year-olds and upward over five and a half furlongs (1,100m).
Yellowstone, running with the visor on, was hustled up by jockey Jordan Barrett to take up the running shortly after the start of the race. Approaching the half-mile (800m) marker, Yellowstone began to draw away from the compact group of four runners, lengthening his stride along the way ahead of Madelyn’s Sunshine (Tevin Foster) and Emperorofthecats (Richard Henry).
Turning for home on a merry clip, Yellowstone responded well from the urgings of Barrett and powered home effortlessly for an easy win at the line.
Madelyn’s Sunshine tried her best in deep stretch to get on terms with the winner but had to settle for second money, with
Press Conference (Javaniel Patterson) getting the better of his stablemate Emperorofthecats for third place. After recordings splits of 23.0 x 46.4 the final time was clocked at 1:07.4.
Meanwhile, Raddesh Roman topped the riders on the 10-race card with three winners. Roman was successful aboard Sugar Sugar for trainer Michael Marlowe in the fourth race, KD Strong for trainer Gary Subratie in the fifth race, and Bootylicious for trainer Peter-John Parsard in the ninth event.
Racing continues next Saturday.
