#Champs2024: Vere Tech’s Frater leads field for Class 2 girls’ 1500m final
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Ashara Frater of Vere Technical High topped the 12 qualifiers heading into the final of the Class 2 girls’ 1500m at the ISSA Grace Kennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletics Championships at the National Stadium on Tuesday.
Frater leads the pack with a time of 4:49.55. She won heat one ahead of Edwin Allen High’s Horecia Love (5:06.26), Andrene Peart of Holmwood Technical High (5:07.88), Bellefield High’s Rhodonna Prince (5:08.34), Serina Hibbert of Petersfield High (5:10.10) and Shania Grant of Hydel High (5:15.62).
The six athletes that advanced from heat two are Holmwood Technical’s Jovi Rose (5:04:58), Kededra Coombs of St Jago High (5:05.95), Natalia Gayle of Denbigh High (5:05.95), Edwin Allen’s Briana Morris (5:06.63), St Catherine High’s Ameiah Samuels (5:06.65) and Jennifer Byass of Camperdown High (5:11.08).
The 12 finalists of the Class 2 girls’ 1500m will face the starter on Wednesday at 3:46 pm.
