#Champs2024: Immaculate’s Brown tops Class 4 girls’ long jump prelims
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Immaculate Conception’s Aaja Brown has topped all qualifiers slated to contest the final Class 4 girls’ long jump on Thursday at the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletics Championships.
Brown produced a jump of 5.15m to lead the field. She went over the automatic qualifying standard of 4.90m on her first attempt.
Meanwhile, Convent of Mercy Alpha’s Seana Wilson also recorded a mark of 5.15m. However, it was done in her third round and final attempt.
St Andrew High’s Jowana Pennant (5.01m) had the third-best jump of the preliminaries.
Edwin Allen’s Dashanelle Clarke (4.98m), Immaculate Conception’s Ali Bell (4.93m), Tshani Armstrong of St Catherine High (4.92m), Aliona Crawford of Holmwood Technical (4.89m) and St Jago’s Deandra Fitten (4.88m) are the top eight qualifiers.
Shantavia Burke of Merl Grove High (4.78m), Rondae Arnold of Mannings High (4.76), Hydel’s Arrian Nelson (4.68m) and Daina Black (4.65m) conclude the 12 finalists.
The final of the Class 4 girls’ long jump is slated for 4:19 pm.
