#Champs2024: JC’s Beckford strikes gold in 110mh final
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jamaica College’s Daniel Beckford stunned the field to win the Class 1 boys’ 110m hurdles at the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletics Championships on Saturday.
Beckford, who finished third in the event in 2023, won in a time of 13.45.
Meanwhile, Kingston College’s Daniel Clarke ran 13.57 for second. Shaquane Gordon, who was last year’s Class 2 champion, had to settle for third in 13.58.
For the Class 2 110mh, it was Kingston College’s Taj-Oneil Gordon (13.94) who came out on top. His teammate Johnathan Clarke finished second in 14.05. Calabar’s Robert Miller won bronze in 14.23.
In addition, Calabar’s Divondrae Matthews delivered gold in the Class 3 boys’ 100mh. He did so in a time of 13.09 seconds. Kingston College’s Orandy Campbell (13.19) and Naethan Bryan of St George’s College (13.40) came second and third, respectively.
