The leadership of the Jamaica Classic Car Club (JCCC) changed hands on Sunday, February 18 at Curphey Place, St Andrew, placing former first vice-president Naresh Potopsingh at the helm of the club.

“I’m happy to be here and grateful for the opportunity,” Potopsingh told the Jamaica Observer’s weekly Auto magazine.

A long-standing member of the club, Potopsingh has been a part of the club’s administration for several years now.

“I’m trying to plan out the rest of the year and make sure that things go well. I have a good team. So far they’re doing great,” he said.

Along with the monthly link-ups, Potopsingh wants to continue to grow the club’s membership by encouraging older classic car owners to complete their projects and bring out their cars while simultaneously encouraging the new generation of classic car owners to join.

“We’d like to have some new events, like a classic car show, which we were thinking about doing later on this year, but we have to see how feasible that is,” Potopsingh said.

For 2024 the club has had a healthy start with a large opening link-up event on January at Hope Gardens.

In February, the JCCC hit the road for the north coast to partake in the annual Orchid Show put on by the Ocho Rios Orchid Society‘s.

This month, on Sunday, March 24 it was another good showing as Port Royal was the latest venue for the club’s link-up.

“I’m happy with the current position and direction the club is heading right now, considering all that has happened. We always strive for improvement, but we have to be satisfied with the things that are going well,” Potopsingh said.
