She’s A Godgift to go all the way in Restricted Stakes contest

Three-year-old American-bred bay filly She’s A Godgift (Wildcat – Ghostly Direction) faces eight opponents in the $1.19-million Restricted Stakes, the main attraction on today’s eighth-race schedule, as she defends her unbeaten record and illustrious reputation.

The Leroy Tomlinson trainee She’s A Godgift has won both of her local outings so far, most recently overwhelming four of her challengers in a five-and-a-half-furlong race on March 9.

She’s A Godgift made one move to win the race by five lengths in 1:07.3, beating
Kem and Huntsman. Rejected Raja finished fifth, and Legit Boss came in sixth. Major Danger, Strike Smart, Princess Amahle, and Box Box are the runners who didn’t compete in that race but are predicted to perform well here.

She’s A Godgift broke her maiden over today’s distance at five furlongs straight when winning by 3 ½ lengths in a smooth 59.4 seconds, leading for the entire race. With no one else really outstanding in the line-up, She’s A Godgift is expected to continue her winning ways.

Tevin Foster, who is still in the saddle, rode her on both runs.

The race, which is for imported three-year-olds and upward (non-winners of three) and native-bred three-year-olds and four-year-olds (non-winners of four), is positioned as the eighth and final event on the day with a post time of 5:10 pm. First race is at 12:30 pm.

The main potential rivals to She’s A Godgift’s for the top spot are Major Danger or Princess Amahle.

Major Danger is a four-year-old American-bred bay colt, who returns to competitive racing off a 160-day break.
Major Danger has not performed well over the straight in his two attempts over the distance, finishing off the board both times. Despite his past poor performances, he has been well-prepared for his first race since October of last year, and given his potential, the Ryan Darby trainee could surprise many today.
Major Danger, who is bred by Majestic City out of the Officer mare Clean Eleven, should be left out of calculations.

Princess Amahle, trained by Dalton Sirjue, is a three-year-old American-bred filly by
Klimt out of the Union Rags mare Nuestra Union.
Princess Amahle has had one race this season, finishing sixth behind Ability at seven furlongs on January 27. Since then, she has been training really well for the race, galloping five furlongs straight out of the starting gates in 1:01.4 and the first four furlongs in 47.4.

The presence of Panamanian jockey Josue Osorio in the saddle is a clear indication that
Princess Amahle is coming to run.

Legit Boss, Box Box, and Rejected Raja are all straight specialist runners who are all expected to play prominent roles here.

Also on tap is the $1.01-million Robert ‘Claiming King’ Darby (Sr) Trophy, a three-year-old and upward Claiming ($1 million – $800,000) race over seven furlongs.

Power, trained by many-time champion Philip Feanny, is expected to be the favourite here. He steps down from Overnight Allowance company to tackle these runners here and although not in the best of form, Power should win.
Sir John, Storm, Justin Biden, and Katalina are expected to play their part here.
