St Elizabeth mother, daughter facing murder rap
A 43-year-old woman and her 24-year-old daughter are now facing a murder charge after they allegedly killed the younger one’s spouse.
The St Elizabeth police have identified the daughter as Amanda Stewart and the mother as Lisa Muir, both of Roses Valley in the parish.
They have been charged in connection with the murder of Francois Vassell, a 23-year-old farmer also of Roses Valley.
According to the police, on Monday, April 1, Vassell and his spouse, Stewart, were engaged in a dispute that escalated into a physical altercation.
Stewart’s mother joined the altercation, armed with a machete and allegedly chopped Vassell several times.
He was taken to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Following investigations, the mother and daughter were arrested and charged.
Their court dates are being arranged.
Statistics from the police show that up to March 31, St Elizabeth had recorded nine murders in comparison to six for the corresponding period last year.
