I did no poll on voter apathy for the ECJ — Anderson
Pollster Don Anderson has stated that he has not done an opinion survey on voter apathy for Electoral Commission of Jamaica (ECJ) as reported by the Sunday Observer on April 7, 2024.
The Sunday Observer had reported that the poll results were shared by ECJ Chairman Earl Jarrett in an address to the 153rd synod of the Anglican Church in Jamaica and the Cayman Islands in Montego Bay in the previous week.
“The data referred to in the lead story in the Sunday Observer, as the results of a poll conducted by me for the ECJ actually came from charts I used for a talk to the ECJ sometime last year at their retreat,” Anderson said in response to the story.
“We have not done any poll for the ECJ and hence the statement that it came from a poll done for them is inaccurate and misleading. Instead, the source was from a number of polls done by me over the past decade as well as historical research on the topic of voter apathy,” he added.
