Jeniel Henningham tackles crime, violence on new single Fight
Gospel singer Jeniel Henningham says she was inspired to write her latest single, Fight, because of the frequent reports of crime and violence.
The song also features Sandra Folkes and it was produced by Poised to Succeed Global.
“After reading the scriptures and realising that oftentimes we’re fighting a spiritual warfare in the physical realm, that’s the reason why we have so many problems here on Earth. All these problems are man-made, but we can fix them if we follow the teaching of Christ,” the US-based Henningham shared in a recent interview with the Jamaica Observer.
She believes that gospel artistes can play a major role in promoting peace and harmony in the society.
“Gospel music is more than just an art form; it’s an expression of what we feel deep inside our souls as we study the teachings of Christ. So, as gospel artistes, we have to understand that we’re not just making music. We’re creating music to bring about a greater awareness about God, and we must also use our talents to promote peace and harmony wherever are,” said Henningham.
She continued: “We are in a spiritual warfare and the only way we can win the fight against crime and violence is to get out of the physical and tap into the spiritual. We need God now more than ever.”
Henningham, who is originally from Clarendon, gave her life to the Lord at the age of 18.
“The journey for me has not been easy, but it has helped me to realise my purpose. Knowing your purpose is everyone’s ultimate goal,” Henningham reasoned.
Praises of Joy, the début EP by Henningham, was released two years ago. Her new EP, titled
Change, is expected to be released later this year.
“I am currently working on my second EP and I am very excited about it. It will feature seven songs and I can’t wait to see how the public responds to it when its released,” said the artiste.
Henningham worships at New Life Ministry International and currently resides in Massachusetts.
