Primary school students create vision board
A team from Sandals Dunn’s River and Sandals Royal Plantation recently visited Exchange All-Age and Chalky Hill Primary School, where they engaged students in a vision board activity.
According to Ian Spencer, Sandals regional public relations manager, the purpose of the vision board exercise was to create visualisation tools that had students thinking about what they wanted to achieve, either academically or personally.
“With a vision board, students created visual representations of goals through a collage of pictures and words. It was also a fun way to get them motivated, and we are really pleased at their reception to the project.”
The day’s activities started with the sweet melody of I am a Promise, I am a Possibility echoing through the halls, setting the stage for a day brimming with hope and anticipation as the students eagerly immersed themselves in the creative process of crafting their vision boards.
Under the theme “I Can”, the team delved into Grace Byers’ inspiring book,
I Believe I Can, which served as a beacon of encouragement and empowerment for the young dreamers. Reflecting on the day’s purpose, Sheosha Frater, a Sandals team member, said: “Today was about nurturing the seeds of ambition within each child, reminding them that their dreams were within reach if they dared to believe in themselves.”
Collin Hall, vice-principal, Exchange All-Age, expressed gratitude for the initiative, emphasising the importance of instilling a sense of purpose in the students. “We were thrilled to have Sandals Dunn’s River and Sandals Royal Plantation here, guiding our students towards envisioning their futures. Their presence was truly invaluable,” Hall said.
As the day drew to a close, the once-blank canvases of the students’ vision boards transformed into vibrant illustrations of dreams and aspirations. With new-found clarity and determination, the children proudly held their creations high, each board a testament to their belief in the boundless possibilities that lie ahead.
“I feel like the vision board exercise really motivated me. It was an opportunity for personal growth, where I got a chance to manifest my goals and dreams. Creating a vision board made me dream big and made me realise that no matter how big or small a goal is, it’s achievable,” noted one proud student of Exchange All-Age.
