No problem for Intrestntimesahead in The Kingston

The final preparation race on the ‘Road to the Triple Crown’ series for native-bred three-year-old colts and geldings, The Kingston, takes place on Sunday, May 5, 2024.

The Graded Stakes contest over 7½ furlongs has attracted a field of nine runners and will run for a purse of $3 million. Champion Two-Year-Old from last season Intrestntimesahead headlines the field with Crown Chaser, his main danger.

Below is the analysis of each runner and their chances of winning this trophy race.

1.PROVIDENT: (3 ch c by Sensational Slam – Dream Point)
– Made an encouraging debut on Saturday, April 20, 2024 when he came from behind rivals to win a Maiden Condition call over 6½ furlongs. Provident won in a time of 1:23.0 (24.2 x 48.3 x 1:15.3).
Provident, although thrown in the deep waters here, should benefit from the exposure.

2.PLAYFAIR: (3 b c by Sensational Slam – I Am The One) – Is going to be left behind in this one.

3.UNRULY DON: (3 b c by Savoy Stomp – Lady Mandi) – Can safely be bypassed here.

4.MATUSO: (3 b c by Casual Trick – Puddy Pooh) – Finished in fifth position by some 10 lengths behind Intrestntimesahead in the Prince Consort Stakes on April 14.
Matuso could go home with another share of the spoils here.

5.INTRESTNTIMESAHEAD: (3 b c by Bold Conquest – My Friend Lucy) – Came off a four-month break to easily beat rivals in the Prince Consort Stakes on April 14 over 7 furlongs. Intrestntimesahead came from well off the pace by 3 lengths in a time of 1:28.3 (24.0 x 47.4 x 1:13.2). With the distance increase, Intrestntimesahead should continue his dominance over his peers.

6.PAPER WORK: (3 ch c by Sensational Slam – Abicadabby) – Has no realistic chance of winning here.

7.CROWN CHASER: (3 b c by Bern Identity – Salty Talk) – Finished second behind
Intrestntimesahead in the Prince Consort Stakes.
Crown Chaser also came from far off the pace to finish the race well.
Crown Chaser is going to appreciate this extended journey and is more than likely the only runner in the field that can stop the favourite here.

8.ALLEGIANCE: (3 ch c by Midnight Hawk – Princess Geeta) – Never showed up in the Prince Consort Stakes, especially after winning the Sir Howard Stakes over 6 furlongs on March 24. Allegiance, who finished in ninth place in the Prince Consort, is expected to run an improved race here.

9.CAPTAIN SPARROW: (3 b c by Savoy Stomp – Rackam’s Mistress) – Ran a brave race to finish fourth in the Prince Consort Stakes.
Captain Sparrow came with 6¾ lengths of the winner. Captain Sparrow is another runner who is going to love this distance, and based on his Prince Consort effort, he is expected to impact on the race.
