KINGSTON, Jamaica — In the realm of dancehall, tensions have often simmered between selector Foota Hype and veteran artist Bounty Killer. Social media exchanges over the years have fuelled this divide. However, after learning of Bounty Killer’s recent surgery, Foota Hype has extended an olive branch to his long-time adversary.

News of Bounty Killer undergoing major surgery prompted Foota Hype to reflect on their friendship. In a heartfelt Instagram post, he expressed regret over past conflicts and voiced a desire to mend fences. Sharing a photo capturing happier times, Foota Hype acknowledged Bounty Killer’s positive impact on his life, emphasising that ego should not hinder their connection.

“I’m definitely gonna get this picture framed. After seeing that post on @grunggaadzilla page about his surgery (it) made me look into all the good the General has done for me in life and it by far outweighs the bad,” he captioned the photo. “If it was a news of death, I couldn’t forgive myself knowing that because of ego, one of the greatest person in my life would have passed and we on bad terms,” the caption read in part.

He went on to share that he has forgiven the entertainer for any wrongdoings and says he hopes Bounty Killer can do the same.

“Bounty Killer, Poor People Governor, Ghetto Gladiator, Warlord…I forgive you for anything you ever said or done to offend me and I hope you can see it fit to forgive me for anything I did as well.

Foota then shared that he wished nothing but a long life and prosperity on the deejay while thanking him for contributing to his success.

While Bounty Killer has yet to accept the selector’s ‘olive branch’ publicly, Foota Hype’s post has been met with positive comments from fans and fellow entertainers alike. Some users commended the selector for publicly making such a bold step, while others urged Bounty Killer to meet Foota Hype ‘halfway.’

“Respect to you Foota for being man enough to post this and big up and nuff respect to the legend Killa,” one Instagram user commented.

Dancehall artiste Chi Ching Ching stated that Foota’s comments were the “realest way”, while artiste Stacious commented “big man ting” under the post.

The two have been at loggerheads since 2016 when Foota Hype stated that Bounty Killer would not be considered a ‘hot artiste’ because he was voicing for the wrong producers. Bounty Killer did not take kindly to the comments and lashed out at the selector, explicitly stating that legends do not need to be ‘hot.’ He then took his gross to another level dragging Foota Hype’s ex-fiance into the mix.

“I do not have to voice for A-listers producers. Ask him which artiste him buss for 2015? He is a reflector, not a selector,” Bounty wrote at the time.

Foota Hype, having caught wind of the disparaging comments shared that Bounty nor “none a you friend dem can’t diss me and get weh.”
