Run Julie Run and Intrestntimesahead front runners for 1000 and 2000 Guineas, respectively

Run Julie Run and Intrestntimesahead front runners for 1000 and 2000 Guineas, respectively

1000

1 – FASTNFURIOUSLINKS: This roan filly has not lived up to early expectations after finishing third in the 2023 Jamaica Two-Year-Old Stakes.
Fastnfuriouslinks has raced three times in 2024, with her best effort being a second-place finish, nine lengths, behind Run Julie Run in The Portmore. The best possible outcome for Fastnfuriouslinks in the 1000 is a place on the board.

2 – AMMA: This Peter-John Parsard-trained filly is difficult to assess. From her four career starts, Amma has won once and was a no-show in the Thornbird Stakes on April 13 when she was eased down with about a furlong left in the contest.
Amma is one for consideration for a minor share of the 1000 Guineas prize.

3 – COMEHOMETOME: Bring experience to the table having raced on 11 occasions. Based on her past performances, Comehometome is better off at a distance below a mile, yet she is consistent as they come and cannot be taken out of the fray.

4 – BLU SENSATION: Has been plugging along with her third-place finish behind Run Julie Run and Fastnfuriouslinks in The Portmore (May 4), signalling a welcome return to form. Blu Sensation will relish the Guineas distance of a mile and with morning reports suggesting improvement, she has to be seriously considered for at least an exacta placing.

5 – BATTLE ANGEL: Continues to battle in her races. Will not affect the placings in the 1000.

6 – MIDNIGHT FLIGHT: Showed up prominently in the Thornbird Stakes (April 13), then drifted away to 11th. Midnight Angel cannot manage these rivals at this time.

7 – RUN JULIE RUN: She is the undoubtedly leader of the 2024 three-year-old female cohort. Her performance in the 7 ½-furlong The Portmore (May 4) was mind-blowing, winning by all of nine lengths in a time of 1:33.2 for 7 ½ furlongs, which was just a fifth of a second slower than the time recorded for the same distance by colt Intrestntimesahead. At this stage of the three-year-old campaign, Run Julie Run is a cinch to win the 1000 Guineas. Plus, she has shown added progress in the mornings, making her extremely difficult to oppose. Then again it is racing, where anything can happen.

8 – BUTTERCUP: Will enjoy the distance of a mile but has been off form for a while now. Buttercup can be backed in the exotic wagers.

9 – SHANY STAR: Has shown consistency in her four starts, but that will not be enough to find the winning post in front.

10 – CRYPTOGIRL: Known for her early speed, Cryptogirl will find eight furlongs taxing.

11 – ROSETTA: Took a while to shed her maiden tag. Will need time to progress further.

12 – BANADURA: The early leader among the three-year-old fillies segment.
Banadura is a speedster, who will find a mile difficult to handle. She will have a say, especially in the early part of this contest.

2000 GUINEAS

1 – ALLEGIANCE: Was properly dealt with in The Kingston (May 5), finishing fifth, 17 lengths behind the winner Intrestntimesahead. The chances of success by Allegiance in 2000 are increased given the additional distance of half-a-furlong, and his preparation gallops leading into this Classic event. In addition, jockey Reyan Lewis is reunited with Allegiance. The two were together to secure victory in the Sir Howard Stakes. Has to be treated with respect.

2 – KING PIYE: While King Piye will be better off with the distance at hand, he cannot be given a serious chance of winning.

3 – J SPIETH: This grey colt is difficult to assess. Finished third in the Prince Consort after leading in the early part of the stretch drive, and has been consistent at morning exercise. Bypassed The Kingston, and with the blinkers now on, J Spieth has to be given a shot in this one.

4 – PROVIDENT: Has raced two times in his career, showing a preference for longer trips. Provident in the 2000 can best hope for a place on the board. Will gain experience, and will find better opportunities when the long races come around. He galloped well last weekend against his more accomplished stablemate Intrestntimesahead, which may be a precursor for a grand effort in the 2000.

5 – KING’S CROWN: Made it two wins from four starts with a strong come-from-behind victory over 5 ½ furlongs just 10 days ago. This chestnut colt is developing rapidly, and going longer than six furlongs for the first occasion has a good chance of earning.

6 – INTRESTNTIMESAHEAD: The two-year-old champion is continuing to dominate at three, winning his two starts, both in emphatic fashion. In The Kingston (May 5), Intrestntimesahead displayed his diversity by going to the lead quickly after the start, winning by 3 ½ lengths. Intrestntimesahead can lead, can race close to the pace, and can come from well behind the leaders, these options make him a formidable opponent to all in the 2000.

7 – PLAYFAIR: Can safely be discarded from the reckoning.

8 – CROWN CHASER: Improving rapidly, showing his likeness going long.
Crown Chaser is usually at his best coming from behind as witnessed by his second-place run behind Intrestntimesahead in the Prince Consort Stakes at seven furlongs. Crown Chaser is better off going a mile and has to be watched carefully. Note:
Crown Chaser races with the visor on.

9 – CALIFORNIA CROWN: This three-year-old chestnut colt is improving at knots. With two wins from two starts, California Crown is still an unknown contender. The 2000 Guineas will assist in shaping his future. Has to be respected.
