Security guard charged following seizure of firearm, ammo in Kingston
KINGSTON, Jamaica— A security guard has been charged in connection with the seizure of a firearm and ammunition which were found in a bag he reportedly discarded while running from the police on Pryce Lane in Kingston on Friday.
Charged with possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorised possession of ammunition is 33-year-old Andre Bascoe of Text Lane in the parish.
Reports from the Kingston Central police are that about 12:45am, a team of officers were on patrol in the Pryce Lane area when they saw a man running upon seeing them.
A chase ensued and while in pursuit of the man, he reportedly threw a dark coloured knapsack on the ground, the police said.
He was eventually caught, and the bag retrieved. A search of the bag was conducted and a Glock pistol along with a magazine containing fifteen 9mm cartridges were taken from it.
Bascoe was taken into custody where he was charged.
His court date is being arranged.
