Our E10 campaign, ‘Drive Smart, Fuel Your Vehicle Right with E10 87’, addresses a significant issue identified through our 2018 survey, which revealed that 70 per cent of gasoline vehicle owners in Jamaica were using the incorrect fuel grade. This choice led to unnecessary expenses without any performance benefits for motorists. Our campaign aims to educate motorists on the importance of choosing the correct octane fuel for their vehicle — E10 87 or E10 90 — to achieve cost savings without compromising vehicle performance.
The reasoning behind this campaign is straightforward: Motorists can enjoy substantial savings costs by selecting the appropriate fuel grade recommended by their vehicle manufacturer. The use of E10 87, which is perfectly suitable for most vehicles in Jamaica, does not sacrifice power or reliability, thus debunking the common misconception that higher octane fuel is always better.
We are committed to spreading this message far and wide through a comprehensive approach involving traditional and digital media platforms. Our efforts thus far have been magnified across radio, TV, print, social media, and influencer marketing to ensure we are reaching all motorists and road users. We want every motorist in Jamaica to understand that fuelling right means driving smart and saving money.
In addition to our focus on fuelling smart, we are profoundly committed to enhancing health care in Jamaica. Recognising the need for a fully equipped burn care facility on the island, Petrojam has partnered with the University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI) to build a state-of-the-art Burn Care Facility, which aims to drastically improve the care provided to burn victims, eliminating the costly need for patients to travel abroad for intensive medical treatment.
So far, significant milestones have been achieved, including the development of 3D architectural designs and preliminary schedules and cost estimates. This project exemplifies our dedication to nation-building and improving the local health-care infrastructure, ensuring that Jamaicans receive the best possible care right here at home. In addition to these initiatives, we recently concluded a robust pricing campaign designed to demystify our fuel pricing strategy. This campaign aimed to enhance transparency and address consumer concerns. Through strategic visuals on digital and traditional media as well as educational materials, we have sought to clarify how our pricing is determined and to build trust with our customers.
