Main Mistress makes a statement with dominant win
AFTER a promising debut on August 3 when she finished third behind Trust Fund Baby and Fire Cracker going six furlongs (1,200m), Main Mistress returned with a vengeance on Saturday, September 14, 2024 to claim her first victory.
The three-year-old, American-bred, dark bay/brown filly Main Mistress — trained by Peter-John Parsard and ridden by Reyan Lewis — made one scrape to win the native-bred three-year-old (non-winners of two) and imported three-year-old and upward (maidens) at seven furlongs (1,400m) by an impressive 11 lengths.
Leaving her competitors in the dust, Main Mistress crossed the finishing line in a time of 1:25.3 (24.0 x 48.0 x 1:12.4), with Zulu Warrior (Tevin Foster) and Oil Machine trailing behind in second and third places, respectively.
Main Mistress burst out of the gates, seizing the lead and setting the pace ahead of
Oil Machine and Hotbred Scammer (Paul Francis), the latter having recovered from a shaky start. Down the backstretch Main Mistress maintained her rhythm, showcasing her galloping ability.
As the field approached the half-mile turn (800m) Main Mistress shifted into high gear, accelerating effortlessly. With no serious challengers emerging, Lewis eased Main Mistress to the wire, guiding her to a resounding victory.
Cruising home under a hand ride, Main Mistress (Mo Town – Timetobegone) shed her maiden tag in style, announcing her arrival as a winner.
