Air Jamaica Nostalgia

Feelings of nostalgia welled up in many, Thursday last, as in a nod to Chris Zacca’s years as president & CEO of the then national airline, Air Jamaica, members of the Sagicor team donned the distinct ‘Love Bird’ ‘fits complete with face beat. The occasion was Zacca’s induction into the Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica (PSOJ) Hall of Fame at the Jamaica Pegasus.

Co-ordinated on behalf of Sagicor by Norma Williams, former Air Jamaica in-flight services trainer, and current principal of BrandED, she ensured that not only were the uniforms authentic, but, too, the make-up. Yes, the pinks and blues dominated!

Tasked to create the look was Gabrielle Waite, managing director of Gabby Glam, who broke down the looks for Tuesday Style Dryer (TSD)
.

Step 1

Skin prep – Before applying any type of make-up, it is important to first prep the skin by using a water-based moisturiser. I personally love the Embryolisse moisturiser as it primes the skin.

Step 2

Application of Nars Radiant Long-Wear Foundation with a stippling brush over face and neck. Chosen shade: Morea.

Step 3

Highlight & countor using a foundation shade two to three shades lighter than base foundation shade. Gabby used Tahoe to highlight under eyes, centre of forehead, bridge of nose, and centre of chin.

Blend with damp sponge or beauty blender. Macau (two to three shades darker) is used to contour along the perimeter of the face, from top of ear down to cheekbones.

Step 4

Set face with translucent setting powder like Laura Mercier. Apply all over face.

Step 5

Blush and highlight – To add colour to the skin, Playing in Makeup with Yolando in the shade Zinnia is used to complement skin. Blush is applied from apples of cheeks to the temples. Followed by a MAC highlighter in the shade Gold Deposit dusted above the blush and bridge of nose.

Step 6

Brows are sculpted with Absolute New York brow pencil and Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Freeze using hair-like strokes to fill in the brows and a spoolie to hold the brow in place.

Step 7

Priming the eyelids — Priming gets rid of any discolouration before applying the eyeshadow. This is achieved by using a foundation shade two to three shades lighter. Set with Laura Mercier loose powder.

Step 8

Eyeshadow application using Juvia’s Place Blush Palette Volume 4.

Apply the shade Kano in the crease, then the shadow Sweet Pink on the lid.

Step 9

Eye detailing – Add more dimension to the top eyelids with black Inglot gel liner and Sephora Colored Eyeliner in the shade Waterfall to the lower lash line.

Apply lashes using a black duo lash glue on the band of the lashes.

Blow on band for five to 10 seconds then place as close to the top lash line as possible.

Step 10

Line lips using MAC Lip Pencil in the shade Ruby Woo. Follow up with Fierce lippie from Gabby Glam Cosmetics.

Step 11

Set make-up using Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Setting Spray to give a skin-like finish and to help with longevity of the make-up.
