Freedom Street line-up ‘legendary’

Kartel covers 50% of Bleachers tickets for Gaza fans

The highly anticipated return of Vybz Kartel to the stage, Freedom Street, is primed to deliver a night that fans will be talking about for years to come — a powerhouse showcase, a reunion of dancehall’s finest, and an unforgettable New Year’s Eve celebration.

At the official launch event held at Janga’s Soundbar on Wednesday, Josef Bogdanovich, CEO of Downsound Entertainment, dubbed the upcoming celebration as “the dawn of something truly legendary”.

“On December 31, we’re making history,” Bogdanovich declared, “It’s not just about the comeback; it’s about the passion, energy, and unstoppable spirit Kartel brings. This will be a New Year’s celebration like no other, showing Jamaica and the world that with Kartel and Downsound Entertainment, everything is possible.”

The Freedom Street press conference gave fans a preview of what to expect, including superstar guest appearances and a massive “Gaza reunion”.

Kartel himself confirmed an all-star line-up featuring Spice, Skillibeng, and his sons Likkle Vybz and Likkle Addi, plus some of the biggest names from his Portmore Empire crew, among them Popcaan, Tommy Lee Sparta, Lisa Hyper, Sheba, and Shawn Storm.

“It’s gonna be pure epic-ness. Gaza Nation, you know the level! Expect the best and baddest in the game to represent. And I don’t wanna jump the gun, but we got some world-renowned rappers ready to pass through,” Kartel teased. “It’s the reunion dancehall enthusiasts have been waiting for, and we’re bringing it.”

In an unexpected twist, Vybz Kartel and Bogdanovich announced an exclusive 50 per cent Bleachers ticket discount for the National Stadium venue available on Black Friday weekend, November 29 to December 1.

This generous discount is part of Kartel’s plan to give back to his loyal Gaza Nation fan base.

Kartel himself will be covering the remaining 50 per cent, turning his support into a financial thank you gesture for fans who’ve been with him through thick and thin.

“Mi fans a mi heart. Gaza Nation stand by me, so mi a stand by dem,” Kartel shared in a statement, emphasising just how much his fans mean to him.

“This 50 per cent off is my way fi seh respect to every Gaza supporter who a mek dis event possible. Mi ready fi celebrate wid every single one a unnu come New Year’s Eve!”

Adding even more heat to the Freedom Street experience line-up, top deejays like ZJ Chrome, Code Red, Ricky Platinum, Brush 1, Franco, and Fyah Man will be on the decks, bringing the vibes and turning up the energy all night.

Kartel used the launch to unveil his latest entrepreneurial move — a new rum line, Str8 Vybz, created in partnership with Teejay Records and Angostura Bitters, led by executive manager Rahim Mohammed.

A reimagining of his previous brand, Street Vybz Rum, this elevated spirit marks a new chapter for the artiste.

Str8 Vybz will be distributed by CPJ Ltd.

It will be available in flavours named after his hits like Unstoppable, Electric, Fever, and Ramping Shop.

“This isn’t just a product, it’s a movement that represents change and maturity,” Kartel shared. “From the flavours to the label design, everything was a family project. This rum is about the man sweeping the distillery, the woman packaging the bottle — everyone’s a part of it. Vybz Kartel brings the hype, but Angostura brings unity and family.”

Kartel also announced plans to launch Fire Vybz, a line of smoking products, and custom merchandise, including T-shirts, hats, and water bottles, signalling a bold new era of entrepreneurship.

With gates set to open at 4:00 pm on December 31, Freedom Street promises to be a historic event celebrating unity, resilience, and the powerful bond between Vybz Kartel, Downsound Entertainment, and the Gaza Nation.
