Jamal Rated D For Dunce Dec 14
Popular dancehall artiste Jamal will release his first EP, titled Jamal Rated D For Dunce, on December 14 to close another successful year.
The entertainer, who gained traction over the last few years, noted that the eight-track set is a sample of what is to come on a subsequent album titled Rated D.
“The project is for the fans, and a bragging rights to call yourself out to first accept your flaws and move on with your life and become great regardless of your status or where you started,” the deejay told the Jamaica Observer.
The EP contains a track produced by Papi Don Muziq — an uptempo track which the artiste and his team have high hopes for on the international market.
Jamal — who has been doing music professionally since 2018 — added that he is creating a new legacy in dancehall through his versatility.
“My lifestyle and music are the same… everything ‘fully dunce’. Jamal does trap dancehall not ‘chop dancehall’. That is a big difference because, along with one of the trap dancehall’s pioneers, Dario MAGiX, we are creating a new genre, and I am glad to be a part of the future. I am happy to see that a country youth from St Elizabeth can maintain such influence in dancehall, and the slangs and style can create avenues for revenue,” he said.
What’s coming next for Jamal?
“I think my producers are ready for some collaborations and some integration into the trap market, meanwhile supplying the streets with the new style and sound,” he told the
Observer.
