Robert Halledeen dominates at Caymanas Park with four-win haul
JOCKEY Robert Halledeen put on a riding clinic at Caymanas Park on Saturday, booting home an impressive four winners to steal the show on the 10-race card.
The highlight of his remarkable day was aboard Fred The Master, a three-year-old, American-bred, bay colt who romped to a convincing 5¼-length victory in the $1.1-million Rimsky Trophy, a Restricted Allowance II contest for native-bred three-year-olds (non-winners of two) and imported three-year-olds and upward (maidens).
Trained by Jason DaCosta, Fred The Master clocked an impressive 1:12.3 (23.3 x 48.0 x 1:00.0) over six furlongs (1,200m), outpacing stablemate Girvano (Tevin Foster) and Fearless Mission (Raddesh Roman). This victory marked the race number one of the Betting, Gaming and Lotteries (BGLC)/Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association (TOBA) Three-Year-Old Millionaire Series.
Halledeen’s other winners on the day included Whizz Kidd for trainer Donovan Hutchinson in the sixth race, Fort Haldane for trainer Spencer Chung in the eighth race, and Titan Tempo for trainer Philip Feanny in the ninth race.
Halledeen was denied the opportunity to ride his first five-timer when his charge, Runaway Star, the 1-9 favouirte, was scratched from the last event.
With his impressive four-win haul Halledeen has taken his tally for the season to seven winners, solidifying his position at the top of the jockeys’ standings. Halledeen now holds a four-win advantage over his nearest rival, Dane Dawkins, who has three winners to his credit.
Racing continues on Saturday.
