Eastern Extravaganza star-studded
...fitting tribute to reggae icons
The recent staging of Eastern Extravaganza marked a decade of growth and community celebration.
The star-studded line-up on New Year’s Day included special guest Busta Rhymes.
“We had a great turnout. For our 10th anniversary, the numbers reflected years of hard work and growth,” Co-Director Judah Nugent told the Jamaica Observer.
A key moment of the night was honouring reggae icons Capleton, Sizzla, Turbulence, and Ruff Kut Band for their ongoing support, which Nugent described as a full circle.
Meanwhile, Entertainment Coordinator Dunstan Baker was equally pleased with the night’s proceedings.
“The event’s success is rooted in its Mountain View community ties. The people make Eastern Extravaganza what it is. They know our goal is to showcase local talent and develop the area. It has become a key platform for local talent, offering opportunities often overlooked by other events. We’ve provided a stage for artistes and residents who deserve the spotlight,” he told the Observer.
Co-Director Rayon Thompson, as well as Production Manager Kirvan Cole lauded the sponsors, and the artistes for making the event memorable.
Special mention was made of the security provided by Elletson Road Police Station and Quest Security Company to ensure a smooth and incident-free event.
Looking ahead, the directors plan to refine the arrangements further.
“We’ll tighten up the line-up and presentation to keep raising the bar. With continued community support Eastern Extravaganza is set to remain a dominant force in Jamaica’s entertainment scene. A special shout-out to Beekle Bailey for his ongoing contributions to the event’s success,” Nugent said.
