Thrilling police vs taxi men football clash unites Annotto Bay community
ST MARY, Jamaica–In a high-energy showdown at the Westmoreland Oval, Annotto Bay, the St Mary Community Safety and Security Branch (CSSB) hosted the much-anticipated police vs taxi men football match—an electrifying display of skill, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
Clad in yellow and blue, the police team, which featured the commander for the division, acting superintendent Anthony Wallace, gave a determined performance as both sides battled fiercely through two intense halves, with neither conceding a goal, leading to a dramatic penalty shootout. In the end, the taxi men clinched victory with a 4-2 win.
This spirited match was more than just a game; it was an extension of the PREVENT (Partnership for Reconciliation, Engagement, and Violence Elimination Now and Tomorrow) initiative—an ongoing effort to restore peace and strengthen community bonds within the Annotto Bay Police area and its surroundings.
A vast number of supporters from the community came out in unity, proving that, despite the police team’s narrow defeat, the real victory was the sense of togetherness and goodwill fostered through the event.
