Belizean recording artiste Honezty seeks local breakthrough
KINGSTON, Jamaica- As a youth growing up in Unitedville, a village in Cayo district in central Belize, Honezty would often listen to the sounds of reggae music pulsating through speaker boxes at events and on the radio.
He was influenced by the music from Buju Banton, the legendary Lucky Dube from South Africa, Beenie Man and later on, Shaggy.
As he grew older, he decided that music was what he wanted to pursue professionally, and he made his recording debut 17 years ago.
Honezty has never visited Jamaica before nor has he worked with any Jamaican recording artiste or producer, but he hopes to change that soon, as he cranks up the promotion of his latest single Sugah Rush.
“This song is happy fun-loving, high energy party song that’s guaranteed to keep everyone moving on the dance floor. It’s the kind of song that makes you want to get up and dance and forget your troubles. I’m confident that it’s going to be a summer hit,” Honezty told Observer Online recently.
The song which was produced by JahRyan Productions and LIL Boy Entertainment, is a fusion of soca and dancehall.
“My music is influenced by various genres because in Belize we listen a lot of different genres including soca, dancehall, reggae, Hip Hop and R&B,” he states.
Currently in the studios working on his fourth studio album, Honezty said he would like to record collaborations with the likes of Dexta Daps, Masicka, Busy Signal and Christopher Martin.
