Ginjah savours IRAWMA nom
Following a successful 2024 when he scored two hit songs, Ginjah has been nominated for an International Reggae And World Music Award (IRAWMA) in the Most Promising Entertainer category.
The winner receives the Dennis Brown Award.
Armanii, Black Hero, D’Yani, and Ras I are the other nominees for that category.
“It’s incredible to be nominated for the Dennis Brown Award For Most Promising Entertainer. It’s a great deal for all these years I’ve been putting in the work. I am feeling elated and humbled, because most of us singers are inspired or influenced by the Crown Prince of Reggae,” said Ginjah.
The California-based artiste describes 2024 as a turning point in his career. His new lovers’ rock image saw him releasing easy-listening songs like Once Again, which was followed by Sweet Like Sugah which was recently released by Tad’s International Record.
The IRAWMAs take place on March 30 at Coral Springs Center for the Performing Arts in South Florida. Winners are decided by voting which closes March 10.
“Winning awards would be wonderful, but winning the hearts of people would mean that my work is not in vain. This nomination proves that the industry is aware that the Reggae Soulman is hard at work and making a significant move,” Ginjah noted.
A protégé of Beres Hammond, he recorded a number of songs for that singer’s Harmony House label in the early 2000s and toured with the veteran for several years.
Guilty Conscience and Sweet Killer are two of Ginjah’s hits.
