The energy was electric Monday last at The New Cellar8 Wine.Bar.Bistro in Upper Manor Park Plaza as technology consultant Christopher Reckord and entrepreneur Jimmy Joseph jointly celebrated their 60th birthdays. With the patio decorated elegantly by Lit Letters Ja, the large gathering of family, friends and well-wishers present raised copious toasts to them both. Guests enjoyed tasty fare and non-stop libations from The New Cellar8 team, while DJ Uphoria and Big G brought the party atmosphere with old-school soca and dance hits. Reckord and Joseph, who are also Jamaica Observer Table Talk Food Awards judges, welcomed fellow celebrants, brand developer Fern Proctor and Sian Associates Managing Director Sharon Roper to join in the festivities. Come time for the quartet to cut the lychee cake, courtesy of Gillian Ferguson, the sound of Busy Signal’s Happy Birthday filled the night air. This, by the way, was one of four cakes! There were in addition to the lychee a tiramisu from Ferguson, a decadent chocolate cake from Angelie Martin Spencer, and yet another lychee cake, this time from Nadene Lazarus.

Reckord’s long-time friend, Grand Excelsior Hotel director Ian Moore delivered a stirring toast chronicling their four-decade friendship as well as sending warm greetings and congratulations to Joseph, Reckord’s ‘birthday twin’.

“He [Reckord] has always tried to take everything he does to a level that is beyond our local standards. I just want to say to Chris and his other birthday twin [Jimmy]: Have an amazing night. When you have a friendship that is effortless, it’s a real friendship. My effortless friendship with you doesn’t go unnoticed,” Moore said.
