Blue Mahoe Capital boosts all-female football programme with over $2 million in support

Blue Mahoe Capital boosts all-female football programme with over $2 million in support

BLUE Mahoe Capital has announced a $2.2-million sponsorship of Reinas Academy, Jamaica’s first all-female football academy. With this funding Blue Mahoe Capital says it has reaffirmed its commitment to the development of the women’s game locally. The company says the partnership is because of Reina’s dedication to nurturing young female athletes, how it provides structured training and competitive opportunities for girls across the island, and how the academy taps into what it describes as the immense promise of female football talent.

Blue Mahoe Capital Chairman and Chief Executive Officer David Mullings is enthused about the partnership.

“We are pleased to announce our partnership with Reinas Academy as we look to continue our development of female football in Jamaica,” he said.

A former football player and passionate supporter of the sport, Mullings emphasised the need for greater investment in women’s football.

“By sponsoring a group like Reinas Academy that supports female athletes, we actively foster greater equity in sports excellence among our young people. Traditionally, boys’ and men’s football received the majority of financial support but we must invest equally in women’s football. We all see the hard work and successes of the Reggae Girlz on the international stage.”

The four-year partnership between Blue Mahoe Capital and Reinas Academy will drive key initiatives, including the launch of the Blue Mahoe Under-15 Series which will take place across the island. This tournament, organisers say, will allow girls between eight and 20 years old an opportunity to develop their football skills and compete in a structured, organised, and consistent sporting environment. With some of the academy’s senior players already members of Jamaica’s Reggae Girlz national team, this initiative aims to grow and strengthen the talent pipeline and cultivate the next generation of elite, professional, female footballers.

“Having Blue Mahoe on board opens new doors for us,” Reinas Academy founder Neo Oxford said. “Our goal has always been to increase the number of girls playing football, and with their support we are now in a stronger position to make this goal a reality.”

Blue Mahoe Capital says with its backing, Reinas Academy is poised to expand its impact, equipping young female footballers with the resources, structure, and competitive platforms needed to elevate their game. It says the partnership marks a significant step in advancing Jamaica’s football landscape, ensuring that female footballers receive the same opportunities to excel as their male counterparts.
