I Dream Again, a highly touted bay colt from the Jason DaCosta stable, made a sensational debut on Wednesday, March 5, 2025. Bred by Soul Warrior out of Lady Najariya, the promising three-year-old dominated a native-bred Maiden Condition Race over 5 ½ furlongs (1,100m), cruising to a decisive 10 ½-length victory.

With jockey Robert “Hardball” Halledeen in the saddle, I Dream Again made all the running to win the race in a time of 1:08.0 (23.1 x 47.0) without breaking a sweat in the scorching sun.

Halledeen was thrilled with the victory, saying: “Winning on debut is the best feeling for any connection. Although he won easily, I Dream Again is still a bit green and playful, but he’s a lovely horse with plenty of room for improvement. We’re excited to see him develop.”

Halledeen also praised the trainer’s patient approach.

“The trainer has been taking his time with this horse, and I don’t think I Dream Again has ever worked at 5 ½ furlongs before. This was his first time at the distance, so the further he goes, the better I’ll be able to assess him. But he is a very nice horse,” Halledeen told the Jamaica Observer’s The Supreme Racing Guide.

I Dream Again was urged forward by Halledeen from the start, quickly taking control of the race. He led
Giant Vigorous (Matthew Bennett) and Brompton Boy (Reyan Lewis) through the early stages. As the field approached the half-mile (800m) turn, I Dream Again began to assert his dominance, stretching his lead over his rivals.

Turning for home with a commanding advantage, I Dream Again accelerated effortlessly and powered to the wire, winning with ease and never facing a serious challenge. Giant Vigorous finished second and Brompton Boy came home in third place.
