Relline Essentials, the self-care brand helmed by University of the West Indies pharmacology graduates Chantelle Allen and Nicardo Roberts, was founded in May 2020 after Allen’s struggles with, among other things, acne, dark spots, and dandruff. When over-the-counter products failed her, Allen began treating her skin issues with herbal tinctures and infusions she created. She saw great results with her at-home formulas, and started sharing the products with others. With rave reviews coming in, Allen — an entrepreneur at heart — partnered with batchmate Nicardo Roberts to formalise the business. At home, with final-year exams underway and job opportunities looking dismal, the two ignored naysayers and decided to launch anyway. The products sold out on the first day! With Allen handling the creative side of the business — product, content creation and marketing — and Roberts in charge of operations and logistics, the brand has grown quickly within the last few years, amassing a loyal community of 17,000+ women.
