Digicel set to mark 24 years of empowering businesses
TELECOMMUNICATIONS giant Digicel has reaffirmed its commitment to driving innovation and growth in Jamaica after almost 24 years of operation on the island.
The company, which has been fuelling the advancement and success of local businesses, is the official telecommunications partner for Expo Jamaica 2025, and its CEO Stephen Murad says the company recognises the importance of powering industries, particularly start-up businesses.
“It is important to help them see beyond their local roots and realise their potential on the global stage,” said Murad at the recent launch of Expo Jamaica 2025.
“Believe it or not, Digicel turns 24 in April of this year — 24 years of growth and transformation. As the largest mobile infrastructure provider and with the largest fibre footprint in Jamaica, we have played a significant role in shaping the landscape. We also understand the vital role we play in driving entrepreneurship within Jamaican communities. Digicel is proud to stand with the Jamaica Manufacturers and Exporters Association (JMEA) and support the incredible work it does,” Murad added.
Since its inception in 2001, Digicel has been adamant that connectivity and innovation are essential drivers of economic success, and according to Murad, the company has demonstrated this through its groundbreaking technology and other pioneering endeavours, all of which highlight its commitment to progress.
“Our commitment to Expo Jamaica reflects our dedication to equipping businesses with cutting-edge digital solutions that enhance productivity and open doors to global markets. In today’s Digital Age, technology is not just a tool, it is the foundation for progress, and we are here to ensure that Jamaican businesses have access to the best resources available,” said Murad.
In line with this vision, TREND Media, Digicel’s advertising and communications agency, will deliver extensive social and digital coverage to enhance the visibility of this initiative.
“Our values at Digicel align seamlessly with the mission of Expo Jamaica. Just as this event highlights the best of our productive sectors, we continue to invest in innovative technology, tailored business solutions, and community-driven initiatives that empower entrepreneurs and strengthen industries,” said Murad.
“Looking ahead, we remain focused on deepening our impact. By supporting digital literacy, fostering opportunities for small and medium enterprises, and championing initiatives that elevate Jamaica’s global presence, we are building a future where innovation fuels sustainable growth,” added Murad.
Expo Jamaica 2025 is scheduled for April 3 to 6 at the National Arena and National Indoor Sports Centre in St Andrew with a record buyer turnout expected.
