Be careful with your heart — that’s the message singer Bachelor wants to resonate with his latest single, Don’t Come Running Back, which was released last December.

The song, a co-production with respected engineer Delroy “Fatta” Pottinger, was inspired by the deception that Bachelor experienced in a relationship.

“The song is based on real-life events. After being married to a woman for over 12 years and then to realise that I was tricked for the benefit of her getting her papers in the US (United States). Not knowing her true intentions, I fell in love with her, only to be deceived,” Bachelor told Observer Online on Friday.

He added, “You have to be careful with your heart. What doesn’t kill you, only makes you stronger and wiser. I have learnt a lot from the situation.”

And Bachelor is quite excited that the response to the song has been overwhelming.

“This is one of those relatable songs. It is about an experience that I have overcome, and it has certainly made me stronger. I am very pleased with the support that it has received so far,” he disclosed.

Following the death of his father, roots singer Jah Hammed, Bachelor decided to release a various artistes rhythm project in his honour.

Titled Moving On, the project features songs by his father, as well as Lutan Fyah and Turbulence. He also contributes a song to the project.

“In light of difficult situations and losses that we all will face at some point in life, we have to keep moving on,” he stated.

Bachelor, whose real name is Leon Smillie, began his musical journey as a member of the New York-based sound system Ali Baba along with his brother Smillie Don in the 1990s.

He has released a number of noticeable tracks, such as Call Me, Her Heart Is Broken and Keep Moving On.
