Almost a year to the day when he broke the world record in the men’s discus throw and at the same venue, Lithuania’s Olympic Game silver medalist Myklos Alekna raised the men’s discus world record on Sunday.

Alekna threw 75.56mm to win the event at Sunday’s final day of the Oklahoma Throws Series World Invitational at Millican Field, Ramona, Oklahoma.

The University of California senior who was second to Jamaica’s Roje Stona at last year’s Olympic Games in Paris, France, broke his old mark of 74.35m that he set at the same meet on April 14th last year.

He broke the old mark twice after he had opened with 74.89m in the first round. He now owns the top three longest throws ever with his father, former Olympic Games record holder Virgilijus.

Australia’s Commonwealth Games champion Matthew Denny was second with a national record 74.78m, breaking his previous best 74.25m set on Thursday also at Ramona.

Many time Jamaican champion Fedrick Dacres witnessed the World record as he was eighth in the group with a season’s best 66.33m after fouling out on Thursday.

Another Jamaican, Chad Wright had thrown 62.87m on Thursday as well.
