Lighting issues force pause in JPL quarter-final matches
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Fans of the Jamaica Premier League (JPL) were left disappointed on Thursday as the first quarter-final match of the series had to be paused mid-game due to lighting concerns.
The match, between Tivoli Gardens and Montego Bay United, which was being played at Sabina Park was paused around the 40th minute after the stadium lights were engaged but only some of the bulbs kicked in.
It was scheduled for kick-off at 6pm and should have been followed by the second quarter-final match between Portmore United and Cavalier at 8:30 pm.
The score was still nil all at that point and the modest crowd was left waiting in the stands, while players lounged on the field, also waiting for word on the continuation of the match.
More to come.
