‘Reading is a powerful tool’

MINISTER of Labour and Social Security Pearnel Charles Jr emphasised the importance of connecting with the students and recognising their potential as he led the ministry’s participation in Read Across Jamaica Day activities at Chandlers Pen Primary and Infant School and the Hayes Primary and Infant School in Clarendon on Tuesday.

“Reading is a powerful tool that can unlock the full potential of our children, and we are committed to supporting their educational journey,” declared Charles Jr.

“In a world that is evolving rapidly, it’s our duty to ensure that every child, regardless of background, has access to the tools and support needed to thrive. Through initiatives like this, we foster a culture of literacy and resilience, preparing our youth to rise to the challenges and opportunities of tomorrow,” Charles Jr added.

He said through participation in initiative such as Read Across Jamaica Day, his ministry aims to support the development of Jamaica’s children promoting literacy and the joy of reading.

“The Ministry of Labour and Social Security’s participation in Read Across Jamaica Day, is one element of its ongoing commitment to continuing to build a Jamaica where the joy of reading lights the path to a brighter future and ‘No Child is Left Behind’,” declared Charles Jr.
