Seprod Foundation champions literacy at seven schools
IN celebration of Read Across Jamaica Day, the Seprod Foundation shared the joy of reading by hosting a wide-reaching reading initiative across several parishes.
With a mission to inspire a lifelong love for learning, teams from across the Seprod Group visited seven schools to read, donate books, and connect with students.
The foundation’s volunteer readers, drawn from Seprod’s staff and subsidiaries, visited Maxfield Park Primary, Edward Seaga Primary, and North Street Primary in Kingston and St Andrew; Rosemount Primary and Spring Vale Primary in St Catherine; and Seaforth Primary and Bernard Basic in St Thomas.
In total more than 300 students participated in interactive storytelling sessions designed to foster imagination, improve literacy, and promote the joy of reading.
“At the Seprod Foundation, we believe that every page turned is an opportunity to shape bright futures. Literacy is one of the most powerful tools we can offer our children, and Read Across Jamaica Day gives us a chance to be part of that journey,” said Vanessa Nelson, project and programme coordinator at the Seprod Foundation.
Beyond reading, the foundation also donated books to school libraries, along with Seprod products for the students to enjoy.
These efforts form part of a larger commitment to education and community development, a key pillar of the Seprod Foundation’s mission.
The initiative highlights the belief that access to books is access to opportunity. Through annual Read Across Jamaica Day initiatives, the Seprod Foundation continues to support literacy as a cornerstone for national growth, helping to create a Jamaica where every child has the tools to succeed.
