Steer Town claim first win in St Ann FA Major League

ST ANN, Jamaica – Steer Town got their first win in the St Ann Football Association Major League on Thursday, upsetting leaders Moneague FC 2-1 in their Zone B game played at Drax Hall.

Moneague FC had won their first two games and remained in the lead in Zone A, on goal-difference over Black Stars, who have won their two games played with Steer Town in third place on four points.

A 90th minute goal from Delton Anderson gave Steer Town all three points, breaking a 1-1 tie.

Najay Anderson had given Steer Town the lead in the 37th minute and Rushane Jarrett had levelled the scores in the 75th minute for Moneague FC.

On Wednesday, both Madras FC and Black Stars ran their record to two straight wins, beating Dry Harbour 4-1 and Mt Edgecombe 1-0 respectively.

Madras FC, the Zone A leaders, fell behind in the 30th minute when Romaine Gibson scored for Dry Harbour who were making their first appearance this season.

Romaine Sharpe equalised in the 44th minute for Madras FC and Damour Battick gave them the lead in the 57th minute.

Javed Wilson made the scores 3-1 in the 68th minute before Sahir Moncrieffe scored in time added for the final scoreline.

In the first game of the day, Rohan Hall scored for Black Stars in the 42nd minute to condemn Mt Edgecombe to their second loss of the season.
