World Relays: Jamaica finish sixth in mixed 4x400m heat
Jamaica’s mixed 4x400m team will have to wait until Sunday’s second day of the World Relays in Guangzhou, China to attempt to qualify for the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, after failing in their first attempt on Saturday.
The quartet of Demar Francis, Niesha Burgher, Delano Kennedy and Kelly-Ann Beckford placed sixth in 3:18.83 minutes in their first round heat, failing to progress to Sunday’s final with the first two teams getting automatic spots in the world championships.
Francis ran a strong first leg and handed over in the first three but Burgher slipped back in the field and the team never recovered.
