Peace and prizes at Craig Town Easter League
THIS year’s staging of the annual Craig Town Easter League saw the team from Second Street emerging winners of the football competition that has become a staple in the St Andrew Southern constituency
In addition to taking the Dr Omar Davies Trophy the winners received $70,000.
The team from the section of the community known as Mexico placed second and received the Patrick Roberts Trophy as well as $40,000, while the third and fourth placed teams were presented with $25,000 and $15,000, respectively
The leading goalscorer, Jhanoi Williams of the Union Street team, received $5,000.
Established in 2009 to promote peace among feuding communities in St Andrew Southern and neighbouring Kingston Western, the competition has grown steadily.
This year 33 teams, including, for the first time, one from the Jamaica Constabulary Force, participated in the competition which started on Thursday, April 17 and culminated on Monday, April 21.
