More NCB customers get quicker access to deposits
ROSE HALL, St James — Small and medium-sized business operators who want to quickly access cash after making deposits now have that option at six more branches across the National Commercial Bank (NCB) network.
This was revealed by head of branch sales with the financial group, Kevin Ingram, during NCB SME Connect, held at Hilton Resort and Spa in Montego Bay Tuesday evening.
“We have listened and over the last year-and-a-half we have been able to do what we call in-sourcing; you send your lodgement to branch, drop it off at the drop box and it is counted within 24 hours,” he said.
According to Ingram, the previous approach took a couple of days as deposits were taken to another location and counted. Now deposits are counted where they are made and the change has already been made at a number of branches.
“So far we have done it at Fairview, New Kingston, Duke Street, St Ann’s Bay, May Pen, and Mandeville locations and it has been a success,” Ingram declared.
The banker said there have been positive results.
“We had complaints reduced by 94 per cent,” said Ingram.
“We are also pleased to tell you that we are adding six more branches to the in-sourcing in very short order,” he added.
Those branches are in Brown’s Town and Ocho Rios in St Ann, Portmore and Spanish Town in St Catherine, Savanna-la-Mar in Westmoreland, and Junction, St Elizabeth.
Ingram said the Junction location badly needed the service.
“[Customers] were taking three taxis to go to different places. We met them halfway and we put back a little cash in there. But we are going big and bold and we are doing a full in-sourcing in the Junction branch,” he said.
Ingram added that there will be a customer blitz at the branch next week as NCB shows appreciation to clients.
