Man fatally stabs alleged attacker in Manchester
MANCHESTER, Jamaica — A man was fatally stabbed in Whitby near Mile Gully in Manchester after he reportedly attacked another man with a knife on Thursday.
Police named the deceased as 29-year-old Omar Stewart, otherwise called “Brando”, a resident of Mile Gully.
A police report said about 1:20 am Stewart, armed with a knife, reportedly attacked the man and a dispute occurred. It is alleged that the man disarmed his attacker and inflicted stab wounds to Stewart’s body.
Stewart was pronounced dead at hospital. The incident is being treated as a homicide as detectives await further evidence to determine whether it was a case of self-defence or murder.
This latest incident follows a similar case near the New Green roundabout in Manchester where a fruit vendor was reportedly attacked, but managed to overpower his attacker, inflicting deadly stab wounds last week Thursday.
