Commandant leads the charge in Seeking My Dream Trophy

The stage is set for an unforgettable showdown in this afternoon’s Seeking My Dream Trophy, a prestigious $1.4-million feature race that promises to deliver heart-pumping action and edge-of-your-seat suspense. Four elite contenders — Commandant, Desert of Malibu, Atomica, and Tiz Tok — will clash in the Open Allowance contest, covering seven and a half furlongs (1,500m) of pure racing thrill.

These talented thoroughbreds have a shared history, having faced off in last year’s Mouttet Mile. Commandant, trained by the skilled Rohan Crichton, secured third place, while Tiz Tok finished fourth. Desert of Malibu and Atomica also showcased their prowess, finishing eighth and 10th, respectively.

Despite their past performances, Commandant’s recent workouts have sent shockwaves of excitement through the racing community. His trainer has been working tirelessly to fine-tune the five-year-old American-bred bay horse’s skills, and it shows. Commandant worked five furlongs (1,000m) on the round course on Saturday, May 3, in 59.2. He then worked alongside stablemate and the talented Legacy Isle on Saturday, May 10, clocking a blistering 58.2 seconds for five furlongs out of the straight with four furlongs (800m) done in 45.2 seconds, leaving observers eager to see him in action.

Commandant’s pedigree is equally impressive, boasting a lineage of speed and endurance. His American breeding and robust build make him a formidable opponent on the track. After a disappointing run in the Ian Levy Cup,
Commandant is poised for a comeback, and this race could be his moment to shine.

The race is positioned as the ninth and final event of the day with a post time of 5:40 pm, but the first race is at 12:00 pm.

Six-year-old American-bred chestnut mare Desert of Malibu returns to racing after a 144-day break. She last competed in the Christopher Armond Sprint on December 24, finishing second to Bootylicious. However, she has the stamina and speed to compete her, and she may be freshened up after her break. Desert of Malibu may just surprise us.

Two-time Horse of the Year Atomica has yet to win a race this season from her three starts so far. She finished a strong second in the Ian Levy Cup behind Barnaby and could repeat that effort here. Her breeding suggests she has the speed and agility to compete here. Atomica is a danger to all.

Tiz Tok has raced three times on local soil so far, holding one win. This American-bred bay horse was fourth in the Ian Levy Cup, but look for a better run from him here. Given his form, class, and talent, Tiz Tok is bound to run a big race here.

Looking at the other runners in the 10-horse field, only Is That A Fact can be considered to challenge the big four here.
Is That a Fact has been training very well and is expected to run accordingly. His breeding suggests he has the speed and endurance to compete, and he may be a dark horse in this race.

Will Commandant’s determination and talent propel him to victory, or will Desert of Malibu, Atomica, or Tiz Tok pull off an upset? One thing is certain — the Seeking My Dream Trophy is about to deliver an unforgettable racing experience.
