ATHLOS to launch women’s team-based track and field league in 2026
UNITED STATES — ATHLOS, the women’s-only track and field meet founded by Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, is set to expand into a full-fledged team-based league in 2026.
The announcement was first shared by Citius Mag on Instagram.
The new league, which promises to be “designed for and by athletes, tailored to a modern fanbase,” will feature multiple meets across various US cities, culminating in a championship event following the conclusion of the World Athletics season.
Among those helping to shape the league are Olympic gold medalists Sha’Carri Richardson, Gabby Thomas, and Tara Davis-Woodhall, who will serve as advisor-owners.
The 2026 season is expected to wrap with the World Athletics Ultimate Championships scheduled for September 11–13 in Budapest.
When asked whether Sha’Carri Richardson will compete in the current ATHLOS meet, a spokesperson said: “To be announced/determined. Right now, we are focusing on her path to league ownership and actively participating in the development of track and field. She’s obviously excited about ATHLOS’ impact, and she will be a part of this journey in many ways!”
